A downloadable game for Windows

About the Game:

This game was created over 48-ish hours for the Chillennium 2025 Game Jam. The theme for this one was "In plain sight," so I decided to make a game where things worked differently depending on  whether or not you were looking at them, and the idea of detaching your eyeball sorta came naturally. For all two of you out there who are familiar with the complicated development history of my Yume Nikki Fangame, I don't know why decapitation has apparently become a motif in my stuff. Or mad eyeballs. I'm perfectly normal, I swear. Not really too much else to say about the development of this one, other than that I actually managed to be productive on Saturday this time.

The Story:

Eugene, the Cyclops with a detachable head, has had a streak of incredibly bad luck. Most recently, he lost his favorite hat in the mysterious Temple of Sight. Help him navigate the ancient ruins to recover his hat, making use of his detachable head to see past the temple's devious traps.

The Controls:

  • Arrow keys to move.
    • Press up while near a door to enter it.
  • Z to jump.
  • X  to throw your head.
  • R to return to the most recent checkpoint.
  • F1 to reset the game, I guess.

  • Implemented previously-unused checkpoint indicator.
  • Added the ability to restart levels by pressing R.
  • Various actions such as slimes moving or fuse blocks exploding now make sound.
  • Replaced placeholder title screen graphic.
  • Drop shadows for solid blocks.

Changed:

  • Tweaked various sections of level 5 to make it less likely for the player to get stuck.
  • Adjusted the scrolling of the background.

Fixed:

  • Certain collision objects in levels 4 and 5 were missing corresponding tiles.
  • Background tiles in most levels were being drawn behind the background.
  • Tiling fixes for all stages.
  • Sound effects for slime spawners would often stack and become unnecessarily loud.
  • Falling slimes would force the player's eyeball through solid objects, making level 5 impossible.
